AU Tax Accountant
Job Description:
Role Brief
We are seeking a bright, grounded, and motivated Tax Accountant with 2–4 years of experience in Australian public practice or business services. The successful candidate will support tax compliance and accounting functions across a portfolio of clients while working closely with senior team members.
The ideal candidate is confident in communication, comfortable working within time-management expectations, open to feedback and learning, and able to demonstrate progression beyond graduate-level responsibilities.
Key Role Deliverables
- Prepare and lodge individual, company, trust, and partnership tax returns
- Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and IAS
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and working papers
- Liaise directly with clients to gather information and resolve queries
- Ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements
- Support senior accountants with tax planning and advisory engagements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records
- Work within agreed timeframes and productivity expectations to support team workflow and capacity management
- Collaborate openly with the team and proactively communicate blockers or training needs
Education Requirement
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum Years of Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Australian Business Services or Australian public practice
- Candidates should demonstrate progression beyond graduate-level responsibilities
- Experience handling business groups, individual tax returns, BAS, and general business services work is highly preferred
Technical System Experience
- Experience using Xero is required
- Working knowledge of MYOB and QuickBooks is highly regarded
- Candidates should have practical hands-on experience rather than basic exposure only
